Dateline: Barrymore Theater, Madison, WI, 12/3/98; Show 99

The Barrymore is a nice place indeed, and the PA held together wonderfully this time. So
did the band, for that matter... The Dane Co. show was one of the first shows I got a tape of
(it was one of those I didn't make it in for and subsequently HAD to hear in some way... and
by the way this show also began a long-standing tradition of me being shut out of a show where
they played "Help>Slip>Franks").

Great show... thanks again to Al Sundby the house engineer for making my job go so smoothly,
you run a great stage, man... and to the people in Madison for coming out in force seemingly
at the last minute, hope you'll be back with us again in January...

...Oh, and to the one (and there was ONLY one who was like this) loud, obnoxious, braying
drunk (with BOTH ham-fisted hands full of spilling beer cups)...

One Bit Of Advice:

Go to school, learn about physics, acoustics, PA design, and a whole mess of other stuff
from instructors who don't care and are only teaching a college course because they can't
find industry jobs that pay enough, then go work in cruddy little dives for $20 and all
the Pabst you can drink for 8-10 years, rot your liver (you're apparently working on this
already), beat your head into a wall wondering why you're doing what you're doing when all
your friends are making more money than you and they're wondering (to your face) why
"you just can't get a REAL job", lose your fiancé because you "won't
get a real job", fight to sober up, and when you've done all that...

Come try and steal my job with this band.

It's just that simple, and then you know what? You can mix them the way YOU want to hear it,
but until then... shut up and dance, will ya? I have enough to worry about...

Thanks to the other 400+ who DID enjoy my mixing and the band's playing... without all
of you I'd ...um... "have to get a REAL job", I 'spose...
